Tariq is a recently qualified Technologist, having returned to study following Covid, and joined Lonie Lozano at a serendipitous juncture in his own development and that of the practice.

Alongside his enthusiasm for technical detail and a keenness for continued learning through collaboration, Tariq brings with him extensive ‘on the ground’ project experience, having formerly worked as a building contractor and interior finisher. This knowledge of the potential impediments to successful project outcomes allows for a thorough approach to the design and technical solutions Lonie Lozano can provide.

Having previously worked on retrofit of social housing before going on to further research retrofit strategy for heritage buildings, Tariq has a passion for understanding the mechanics of any prospective idea or design solution, only willing to endorse and apply that which has sound technical reasoning behind it, and offers more than just aesthetic merit.

In his words, he sees the built environment as a complex puzzle, one that requires understanding not only of its individual components, but crucially its intended purpose, before a strategy is developed and executed. However, most crucially, that the final executors and underlying threads of any strategy are empathy and collaboration.
