Icon Apartments

Situated in the heart of Luton, in an incredibly prominent location, this project was envisioned as an exemplar of what the town can offer. The brief called for a landmark building that would stand out while respecting its historical surroundings.

Working closely with the Local Planning Authority, we explored numerous design iterations to ensure the final proposal met all expectations. The result is a striking 18-storey tower housing 105 apartments, complemented by 500m² of commercial space on the ground floor.

Special consideration was given to the close proximity of the listed building, with the design carefully reflecting its historical significance. The tower’s form and detailing were thoughtfully crafted to harmonise with the listed structure, incorporating subtle architectural gestures that ‘tip their hat’ to its design. This approach achieved a thoughtful balance between contemporary architecture and historic elements.
