Quantrill House
This scheme is another example of a client approaching us with an existing design they wanted to improve. Adding to the challenge, it was also their first development. We worked closely with all consultants, offering advice and support to the client throughout the process, ensuring the development aligns with their specific needs. Through this collaborative approach, we delivered a fresh design that significantly reimagined the initial proposal.
When increasing capacity in central urban areas like this, the solution often involves building upwards. However, we took a broader view, focusing on the site’s urban context. In this case, we identified gaps where the existing 1980s office building failed to establish a cohesive street presence. By filling these gaps, our design not only restored a sense of street continuity but also created opportunities to optimise the site. The result was a proposal for 17 new apartments, complemented by a nursery on the ground floor, making efficient use of the available space while adding community value.
The design features a carefully considered layout, offering a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom flats to cater to diverse needs. Additionally, we prioritised outdoor space, with balconies providing open areas that enhance both the living experience and the external appearance of the building. The addition of the nursery further enriches the project, contributing a functional and welcoming community asset to the urban fabric. This final design seamlessly blends practicality with a sense of urban luxury, perfectly suited to its central location.
